Re: More impressive?
I'm giving the edge to Ripken. I'm not discounting what Favre has done. It is definitely a remarkable stretch and the risk for serious injury is greater with what Favre does.
As for the streaks, I just think Cal's is more amazing. Brett, though risk of injury is greater, only had to play 16-19 times per year. Once a week. He had the luxury of sitting out during the week. If he was sick, he could always gut it out for that one day and take a few days off.
Cal on the other hand, could not. To play everyday, 162 times a year, 6-7 days a week and not take a day off for as long as he did, in my mind, is a greater accomplishment. Heck, I can't even make it through 180 days of work without taking the occasional sick day. For me to match Cal's streak, I would have to work the next 14.5 years without missing a day. That ain't happening! To match Favre's, I'd just need to work the next year and a half! HAHA
Apples and oranges!
